This is such an easy rock tumbling kit for beginners. It comes with everything you need but water and a plug-in block for the USB cable. You’ll plug this into an electrical outlet or extension cord. There are four packets of grit ranging from course to very fine. Packet number one has course grit for the first tumble, to be added to the rocks provided, along with water, into the tumbler. The tumbler’s lid is a very tight fit. I had to use a flat-tipped screw driver to pry it into place. It’s a tight fit that shouldn’t leak, at least! The first tumbling will take 4 days, and when you open the tumbler, you are to examine whether you’re content with the smoothness of the edges of the rocks. If not, continue tumbling. When the unit is plugged in, the menu screen will light up. It’s so simple; just press a button according to the number of days you want to tumble your rocks. One press for one day, two presses for two days, etc.. A green light comes on with each press. Four days, four lights. As the tumbler tumbles through the end of day one, a green light will go out, leaving three lights, or three days left. Once the first tumbling stage is complete, you are to rinse the rocks of the grit and rock debris at an outside faucet, not inside, for the debris could harm plumbing. Continue with each phase according to instructions. It could take four weeks or so to complete the process. The tumbler makes a bit of noise. I have mine in the garage with a sign on the door which says “Rock Tumbling in Progress” because sure enough, someone will head out there to the freezer or fridge and be startled when they open the door! There is an offer included for ordering extra packets of grit and extra rocks to tumble. A poster is included to educate you on which rocks are best for tumbling, along with other information. Lastly, jewelry making accessories are included, yet they are for much smaller stones than what comes with the kit. It makes me think that these stones will grind down to a much, much smaller size! Loving this rock tumbler so far, am excited to see what we’ll get in the end! The nine yr. old grandson is also involved with this project, so fun!
