This book is intended for meditation practitioners who seek authentic self-development methods as taught by Patanjali and the Buddha. It is based on my extensive experience studying Oriental methods of self-development since 1989. Through communication with several yoga-realized saints living in various ashrams, receiving multiple spiritual names, and translating dozens of books on Oriental topics, I have gained a comprehensive understanding of the essence of self-development teachings. The book provides a structured description of the psychopractices of Hindu yoga and Buddhism, stripped of superstitions, misconceptions, and cargo cults. It includes a thorough comparative analysis of the psychotechnologies of yoga and Buddhism, presented in the context of their study by neuroscience. The book explains the original meanings of significant Sanskrit terms used during the times of Patanjali and the Buddha in plain language, unveiling the unified essence of their transcendent teachings.
